Jewelry Care

We believe that as with all things in life, keeping it simple is the best policy. A mild detergent and a soft toothbrush cleans sea glass the best. Lightly dry the piece with a clean cloth, let it air dry, or blow dry it with a hair dryer.

As for removing tarnish, a polishing cloth works wonderfully. Tarnish / oxidation happens when your jewelry sits out in the air too long, and when it comes in contact with constant moisture, so to avoid frequent cleaning store it in the tin it came in. Being in an air tight container will slow down the tarnishing process. As well, don't wait to polish your piece until it gets extremely tarnished, occasional maintenance will keep your piece looking its best.

Storing your jewelry separate in a tin also keeps it safe from damage and is less likely to tangle. The organic bamboo fiber in your tin is the perfect bed for your jewelry. With necklaces, dangle the chain to the under side of the bamboo fiber and lay the pendant on the top, this will keep your piece from tangling.

Use care when cleaning your sea glass jewelry as it is glass, therefore, subject to breakage if it is dropped on a hard surface. Although your sea glass has spent many years in the ocean and has endured very rough tumbling, it may not withstand a drop onto a hard surface.
